Tigre language is a native language of Eritrea. Around, 1.4 million people are native speakers of this language. It belongs to the Afro-Asiatic language family group. The language is also known by the people of Sudan as al-ḫāṣiyyah. Tigre mainly inhabits from western Eritrea, though they also reside in northern highlands of Eritrea and the extensions in major parts of Sudan and north of Zula. But the Tigre people are not the same as south, their neighbors, the Tigrayans of Eritrea and Ethiopia, who speak Tigrinya.
